Features

Everything you need to go from product list to printed label

Built for shops, warehouses, and small manufacturers who need to print accurate, compliant labels in bulk — without learning design software.

Page & template presets

Start from A4, A5, a 50×30 mm thermal roll, or common Avery sheet layouts — or set a fully custom page size and grid.

Bulk import from Excel

Map product name, SKU, price, barcode, QR/EPC, HSN, GST rate, and expiry straight from an .xlsx file — no manual retyping.

Live label preview

Your full sheet updates instantly as you adjust rows, columns, margins, and gaps — what you see is what prints.

Smart barcode detection

Automatically renders EAN-13, Code128, or EPC/GID-96 barcodes based on the value you enter, plus QR codes for URLs or EPC data.

Custom backgrounds & logo

Set a solid color or image background for your labels, and stamp your own logo in the corner of every one.

Reusable templates

Save your page size, grid, background, and logo as a single template file — load it again for your next print run in one click.

Print-ready export

Export a paginated PDF for A4/A5 sheets, or generate ZPL/TSPL for Zebra and other thermal label printers.

No setup required

Native installers for Windows, macOS, and Linux come with everything bundled in — nothing separate to install first.

How to Use

From product list to printed sheet in seven steps

  1. Download and install

Grab the installer for your operating system below and run it — no separate Java install needed.

  2. Pick a page or printer template

Choose A4, A5, a thermal roll size, or an Avery layout, or type in a fully custom page and grid size.

  3. Add your products

Type in a label by hand for a quick test, or import your whole catalog at once from an .xlsx spreadsheet.

  4. Check the live preview

Fine-tune rows, columns, margins, and gaps and watch the sheet update immediately.

  5. Add a background and logo (optional)

Apply a brand color or image behind your labels and stamp your logo onto every one.

  6. Export and print

Generate a PDF for a regular printer, or export ZPL/TSPL to send straight to a thermal label printer.

  7. Save your template

Store your layout, background, and logo as a template so your next print run starts pre-configured.

FAQ

Common questions

Is FreeLabels Desktop really free?

Yes. It's free to download and use, with no account, subscription, or watermark added to your labels.

Do I need to install Java separately?

No. Each installer bundles its own private Java runtime, so there's nothing extra to download or configure first.

Which barcode types are supported?

EAN-13, Code128, and EPC/GID-96 (24-character hex), detected automatically from the value you type in, plus QR codes for URLs, text, or EPC data.

Can I print on a thermal label printer?

Yes. Export your sheet as ZPL or TSPL for Zebra and similar thermal printers, or export a PDF for any regular printer using A4, A5, or Avery-style sheets.

Can I import my existing product list?

Yes. Bulk-import from a .xlsx spreadsheet with columns for name, SKU, price, barcode, QR/EPC, expiry, GST rate, HSN code, and brand.

Is this the same as the FreeLabels web app?

No — it's a companion to it. FreeLabels Desktop runs offline on your computer and is built for bulk, repeatable print runs; the web app is best for quick one-off labels in your browser. Both are free.

Is any of my data uploaded anywhere?

No. FreeLabels Desktop runs entirely on your own computer — your product list, images, and templates never leave your machine.
